Two metronomes on a transferring tray synchronize their defeat

This easy desk-prime experiment illustrates how mechanical synchronization functions. Two metronomes get in tune and defeat in a mirror symmetric style. In the beginning, there is a phase variation involving both metronomes (remaining graph), which causes the tray to oscillate (ideal plot). The rocking movement of the tray imparts compact forces on the metronome needles, which subtly change their speed.
A identical mechanism can clarify a placing synchronization phenomenon noticed in mother nature: the very small inexperienced alga Chlamydomonas coordinates its two swimming arms to swim like a breaststroke swimmer.
